Monday 1st June

Hello Class 4, I hope you have had a fantastic half-term with the lovely weather! I can't believe we are in our final term already! As many of you know Red Class, Class 1 and Class 6 are returning to school this week which means our activities are going to be a little different. Message to parents:  Please be aware that this term you will notice that the activities posted on the class blogs will be a little different from what you have been used to previously, for example, they may not always include an English and Maths lesson. This is for several reasons, i) there will be a focus on Well Being for the children (in and out of school) as we move through the Covid-19 journey; ii) normally during the summer term we have a range of curriculum focus weeks; iii) to ensure consistency for groups both attending school, or remaining at home. This approach will enable teaching staff to manage providing the planning for both groups in a workable manner. This week, the school w

Good afternoon Class 4, I thought I would share more examples of what you have been up to over the last few days. It was great to see some of you show your appreciation for VE day in different ways. James celebrated VE day by having a social distance party with bunting. That sounds like such a great way to celebrate! James also wrote a fantastic poem about foxes today, I could see lots of secret strings being used alongside lots of descriptive language including similes. Well done! Ed built a solar panel robot and it looks fantastic! I have said before that I don't think I could make a robot so I am very impressed with your scientific skills!  Ed also designed and made a parachute as suggested by one of the VE Day activities. I can see that you put a lot of effort into designing, making and testing your parachute so well done! I hope it was successful. I love Alfie and Brooke's VE Day lego creation! such a creative way to celebrate the bank holiday. We

Wednesday 12th May

Hello Class 4, Here are   Wednesday's tasks  for you. I also want to say a huge well done to all those that took part in the tournament today! We made it into the top 50 out of I think 90. Great to see so many of you participating too. I have been looking at the leader-board for just our school and if I have been looking correctly, Class 4 are in second place behind Class 5, so all the practising you have been doing has really paid off. Well done! I have seen so many children in Class 4 have taken part and you have all helped get us into the top 50 so you should all be incredibly proud of yourselves. I certainly am! Don't forget the tournament is still running tomorrow so if you haven't joined today or would like to carry on, you can tomorrow. Have a great day, Miss Dimond

Hi Class 4, I have more excellent work to share with you this week. I had no doubt that Class 4 would all be kind enough to write to Bay Tree Care home but again you have continued to amaze me with your brilliant letters. They will be being sent out early next week and I am sure they will be loved by the residents so thank you. There is still time to send in letters if you would like to and haven't done so already. Lets see what you have all been up to... Finn has been baking dough balls to go with his pizza! They look  really delicious! I hope you enjoy your pizza night tomorrow! It's nice to see lots of you helping out at home!   Charlotte has worked incredibly hard on her Anglo-Saxon village and it looks amazing. It took Charlotte a few days to make her model and I have to say I am very very impressed. Well done!   James did a fantastic design of an an Anglo-Saxon village with lots of interesting facts. How interesting that the Anglo-Saxons built houses

Bank Holiday VE Day Activites

Hello Class 4, The 8th May 1945 was a very important day in British History. It was the day Germany surrendered from World War II and Britain celebrated the end of the fighting in Europe. I can only imagine how people across Britain must have felt that day. That is why tomorrow (Friday) has been marked as a bank holiday so although this is a good opportunity to have a day off from all the hard work you have put in, please take a moment to think about this day all those years ago. Here are some   activities that Mrs Davies kindly prepared for you to have a go at during the Bank Holiday. There is no expectation to complete all of the activities, you can choose from any of the four activities. I picked ones I thought you would enjoy the most. Have a great weekend, Miss Dimond

Times Tables Rock Star Tournament

Image
Hello Everyone, We just wanted to tell you about the ‘Gloucestershire Rockstars Championship’ that you’re all going to have the chance to take part in next week. It’s a tournament against lots of other schools in the area that will be played using Times Tables Rock Stars. The tournament itself will run over three days from 12th– 14th May between 10am and 1pm each day. The idea is that you will try to answer as many questions as you can during those times. You’ll earn a point for each correct answer and these will be used to work out the highest scoring individuals, classes and schools. This event is optional, but it would be brilliant if we can get as many of you involved as possible. You don’t need to be on it continuously, just go on for as long as suits you between 10am and 1pm. Every point will count - we’re aiming for the top of the leader boards! We’re going to be sending an email out to your parents about this too. In the meantime, please try and get in some pr

Thursday 7th May

Good Afternoon Class 4, Here are  Thursday's task 's for you. I'm afraid I have set another investigation for you, but  it is a simple one so I hope you enjoy it. I have found that you need to be patient for this experiment, it takes a while to see any results. You may want to come back to it later in the day. Another option is to think of ways you could make the process quicker, maybe by raising the temperature some how? Make sure you are with an adult if you are around anything hot.  Great to see I have received lots of letters today already! I am going to spend the rest of the day reading through them. Thank you for taking the time to write to the care home. The residents will be so pleased. Great job! Finally, there will be another assembly hosted by Nala, who will be teaching you the Circle of Life song on Thursday Morning at 10 am on the TES youtube  channel:   https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-gOKwgu5_g9Pm1YBMb5G_A   It will be available on the

Wednesday 6th May

Hello Class 4, Here are Wednesday's Tasks Wednesday's tasks require some investigating! You will need some ice for your experiments so make sure you have some ready in the freezer๐Ÿ˜Š We have also decided to enter our school into a Times Tables Rock Star tournament (details to follow) so if you are interested in taking part, log in to your TT Rock Stars account and have a practise as much as you can. Tuesday 5th May

Good afternoon Class 4, Here are Tuesday's Tasks: Tuesday's Tasks For your science activity, you will need a little bit of chocolate. Try and complete tasks 1 and 2. I have also provided an extra activity for an investigation that you can do only if you would like to . You don't have to do this experiment but you are also more than welcome to have a go if you find yourself looking for something else to do but make sure you complete the investigation with an adult. The worksheet for the extra investigation is just a guidance - you can write the prediction/keywords/results/conclusion in your book. Don't worry about underlining or circling words on the sheet. You may have seen my blog post regarding sending letters to people in the Care Home. I know Class 4 will have lots of lovely things to say in their letters so I am looking forward to reading them! Just a reminder that we need them by Friday 8th May. If you find that writing a letter is too much on top of t

Community Outreach

Good morning Class 4, In school, we’ve been talking about ways in which we might help others in the community. As you may have seen on the news, many care homes across the country have had to close their doors to visitors to help to protect the people staying there. This means that the residents can’t have visitors as they normally would. We thought it might be nice if they received a letter to help to cheer them up. Therefore we are asking everyone in the juniors to write a letter to the residents of the Bay Tree Care Home. This could replace an English or Wider Curriculum activity one day this week. We have emailed your mums and dads with who we would like you to write to. In your letter we would like you to think about the following things: An introduction to who you are - Age - Who you live with - Interests/hobbies -What you enjoy at school Lockdown - What have you been during so far during lockdown? - How do you feel about it? Questions Find out about the p

Ed has written a fantastic version of How Tortoise Got His Shell. I really enjoyed reading this and liked that you added a new character using your knowledge about Zeus and his children. Well done for using lots of descriptive language too! Karmah, what a great Anglo-Saxon village you have made using Lego people! Great idea. I am very impressed with your Anglo-Saxon settlement too, it looks very realistic. You must have worked very hard. Well done!
